Celebrating the Harvest With Mrs. Wages

Jammin’ with Berries!

Summer’s first fruits are beginning to burst, and here at Mrs. Wages, we’re ready to do some serious jamming in our kitchens. Those early fruits are just fantastic, not only in jams but in pancakes and muffins, meat glazes, pies and ice cream.

Our creative canning blogger Marisa McClellan, Food in Jars, serves up some childhood memories on blueberry pickin’ along with some delicious recipes for blueberry jam, mixed berry jam and strawberry jam with vanilla.

Master Canner and retired extension educator Shirley Camp shares her tips for freezing and canning berries along with some great information on the difference between a jam, chutney and marmalade.

Our friends at Nostalgia Farms are picking rhubarb, an early mid-spring favorite for Midwesterners. Read about what’s happening in their Iowa garden and check out their tasty rhubarb custard pie and rhubarb muffin recipes.

We also have tasty ideas for using fruit toppings for meat glazes and pancakes using Mrs.Wages No-Cook Freezer Jam Fruit Pectin.

Let us know what you think, and from all of us at Mrs. Wages, enjoy the glories of spring along with the hope that it brings.
