Apple Wontons | Mrs. Wages

Ingredients

1 pint apple pie filling

1 package wonton wrappers (30 wrappers)

1¼ tsp apple pie spice blend

Egg wash (optional)

Peanut oil* for frying

Directions

1Blend apple pie filling with apple pie spice blend (if using spiced apple pie filling, this step can be omitted). Dice apples in mixing bowl to create manageable apple pieces.

2Layout wonton wrappers flat. Spoon approximately 1/2 Tbsp – 3/4 Tbsp into the center of the wonton. Using either egg-wash or water, moisten the wonton edges. Fold wonton to make a triangle and press edges to seal. Fold corners inward if desired

3In a large skillet, cover bottom of pan with peanut oil (approximately 1/4” – 1/2” deep). Heat oil over medium-high heat. Place folded wontons in hot oil. Fry on one side until golden brown, approximately 1½ minutes. Turn wonton and fry on opposite side until golden brown.

4Remove from oil and place on a paper towel to remove excess oil. Serve warm.

Notes:
*Substitute peanut oil with vegetable oil
Serve with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, powdered sugar, or all of the above!
