Illinois State Fair — Mrs. Wages Kosher Dill Pickles
My 19-year-old son James loves the Mrs. Wages® pickles so I made a point of making them for him this year. We purchased pickles at a church sale for several years and didn't know what made them different. (He didn't prefer the ones I usually made!) I finally determined it was the Mrs. Wages® mix, so he was very excited that we could finally make our own!

Illinois State Fair – Red Ribbon Tomato Salsa
“As a kid, I watched and helped my mom can tomatoes until she quit at the age of 86. It was a very labor-intensive job and she used a pressure canner, which is why I wanted to try something a lot easier and quicker.
"The Mrs. Wages® Medium Salsa mix is very good and has just the right amount of heat for the average person. I liked the option of using fresh tomatoes or store bought canned tomatoes. In this recipe, I used petite diced tomatoes and followed the recipe to the letter using the hot water bath method to preserve them.
"I have used this same mix for "ready quickly salsa" and it is just as good. As with all salsa ( mix or scratch) the flavor will be more intense the next day. For our taste, we like to add a little chopped fresh cilantro to the finished product.”

Indiana State Fair – Blue Ribbon Tangy Mixed Pickles
This recipe won first place in Mrs. Wages® Pickling Contest at the 2014 Indiana State Fair. Chuck says the key is to “chunk” up the vegetables. “It’s marvelous and you can eat it the next day!”

Indiana State Fair – Mrs. Wages® Hot Dill Pickles
"I’ve won first place for my pickles in the past. The secret to blue ribbon canning is using ingredients right out of the garden and processing it quickly to preserve that taste.”

Indiana State Fair – Mrs. Wages® Sweet Radish Dill Pickles
I came up with the idea to do radish pickles because we had a bumper crop of radishes this year in our garden, and you can only eat so many raw radishes you know? I like dill with radishes, and I've used the Mrs. Wages® Quick Process Dill Pickle Mix for a number of years to make dilled carrot pickles, so I thought I'd give radishes a try. I found the recipe needed a little sugar to keep the vinegar-radishy-ness from being too harsh.

Sandy’s Spicy Dill Pickles
I like my pickles a bit spicy, so I have added the red pepper flakes. The judge said she could definitely taste them. I’ve been using Mrs. Wages® for the past five or six years, and I love the pickle and salsa mixes. I’m a beginner at pickling, but enjoy it. I get my cucumbers from local farmer’s markets.

James Reinneck’s White Ribbon Bread and Butter Pickles
I’ve been canning 25-30 years. I have a passion for cooking. I grow all my own vegetables including my cucumbers. I’ve used Mrs. Wages® before. I like the pickles, they are awesome. Everyone’s been wanting my pickles, so the word must be out! This is my first time I’ve entered the State Fair and won third place in two different competitions.
