Homemade Chili Recipe with Cilantro and Cheddar Cheese

This chili recipe uses Mrs. Wages® Chili Mix to create a warming dish perfect for colder weather.

Homemade Chili Recipe with Cilantro and Cheddar Cheese


1Take a large stainless steel pot and melt the butter over medium high heat.

2Add the ground pork and ground beef and brown. Before the meat is completely browned, add oregano, garlic, onion, and peppers.

3Cook the mixture until the meat is browned and the vegetables are partially cooked.

4Add the salt, pepper, cumin, and chili powder. Stir well.

5Add the Mrs. Wages® Chili base, beans (including liquids), and the crushed tomatoes. Stir well to combine.

6Bring mixture to a boil and then simmer uncovered for 20 to 30 minutes.

7Can be served with sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese.


1 tbsp butter

1/2 lb ground pork

1/2 lb ground beef (85%)

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/2 cup chopped green pepper

1/2 cup chopped red pepper

4 cloves garlic (pressed)

1 tsp dried oregano

2 tsp salt

1 tsp black pepper

1 tsp cumin powder

1 tbsp chili powder

1 pint Mrs. Wages ® Chili Mix (canned)

2 15-ounce cans Mrs. Grimes chili beans (one spice, one regular)

1 pint canned crushed tomatoes

Sour cream (optional)

Shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
